Electrifying the Normet Spraymec 8100
Motics electrified the Normet Spraymec 8100, replacing its diesel engine with a electric drivetrain.
We would like to present one of our modular RE DriveUnit “e-power-One” integrated into a fully refurbished Normet Group Spraymec 8100.
The drive unit replaces a 96 kW Diesel engine by a set consisting of a 55 kWh Xerotech Hibernium traction-battery, an 800V rated ARADEX AG Inverter and permanent-magnet synchronous motor serving 90 kW of continuous power and up to 150 kW peak. The high dynamics, which are typical of any electric drive, noticeably enhance the driving experience and the value of the machine, which can weigh up to 18 tons.
The integration also includes management of the AC charging source, which feeds a 22 kW onboard charger by Stercom Power Solutions GmbH from the large cable drum or a dedicated charging plug, as well as the thermal management and the overall software integration into the existing carrier.
Different to our initial drive-unit kits which also served the drivers-display and additional machine control, this one integrates similar to the diesel engine via a J1939-CAN-Bus connection, allowing for easy integration into the existing system.
Special thanks to Pauli Lätti, Simo Leskinen, Jussi Mikkonen and Christof Ziegler from Normet Oy and NORMET INTERNATIONAL LTD for the exciting collaboration!
